SLATE AND TILE ROOFING FOR HOMES

From replacing slipped tiles or broken slates to installing full roofs, we carry out domestic roofing work throughout West Wales.

Slate and tile are traditional roofing materials that work well in the West Wales climate and are widely used across the area, so they’re something we deal with all the time.

Common signs your slate or tile roof needs attention

You may need repair or replacement work if you’ve noticed:

  • Slipped, cracked or missing slates or tiles
  • Damp patches in the loft
  • Visible movement along the roofline
  • Widespread wear and tear

Targeted repairs often resolve issues before they escalate.

We look at:

  • Condition of slates or tiles
  • Fixings and underlay (felt)
  • Lead flashings and detailing
  • The overall integrity of the structure

After inspection, we’ll work out the best, and most cost-effective, route forward for you and we’ll explain your options.

Our slating and tiling services

Whether a few tiles have slipped or the whole roof needs to be renewed, we offer a full range of roofing services. Every job is treated the same, regardless of size, so you’re left with a roof that keeps the Welsh weather out and doesn’t need constant attention.

As well as the work itself, we take care of site safety, access, equipment and waste disposal.

Why choose slate and tile roofing?

Slate

  • A good match for older and character properties – ages well, darkens and weathers naturally so it looks like it’s always been there
  • Individual slates can usually be lifted and replaced without touching the rest of the roof
    – useful for repairs that don’t need major disruption
  • A traditional material due to its resilience and ability to cope with the Welsh weather

Tile

  • More choice of colour and profile; practical if you want to update the look of your home or match an extension to the existing roof
  • If one cracks or slips, it can be swapped without major work and is straightforward to maintain over time

We work with slate, clay, concrete, flat and interlocking tiles and will help you choose what’s right for your home.

FAQ’s

How long do slate and tile roofs last? +

Natural slate can last well over 100 years. Concrete tile coverings typically last 50 to 70 years, depending on the material and local weather conditions.

Do I need a full roof replacement after storm damage +

Not always. If the damage is limited to a specific area or tiles and the structure underneath is sound, targeted repairs are often enough.

Are slate and tile roofs suitable for exposed coastal areas? +

Yes. Both materials perform well in exposed conditions when fitted correctly.

Will new slates or tiles match the existing roof? +

In many cases, yes. Matching depends on material availability and condition, but we aim to achieve a consistent finish wherever possible.
